MMR

The MMR vaccine, short for Measles, Mumps and Rubella, offers protection against these three diseases, as well as safeguarding you against varicella (more commonly known as chickenpox). Recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the MMR vaccine is primarily administered during childhood. Typically, the initial dose is given to children between 12 and 15 months of age, with the second dose scheduled for ages four to six. However, if necessary, the second dose can be administered earlier, provided there is a minimum gap of 28 days after the first dose.

For those who missed receiving the MMR vaccine as children, teenagers and young adults can still benefit from it. In such cases, two doses are administered, with an interval of at least 28 days between them. While adults can also receive the MMR vaccine, typically only one dose is required for them.

It is especially crucial to ensure MMR vaccination if you plan to travel internationally. Children aged six months and older should receive their MMR vaccine prior to embarking on any international trips.
